Artist's Statement
'I have had the pleasure of knowing and being around horses nearly all my life.  It is a blessing I simply cannot describe to be able to go out to the barn and ride and commune with my horse.  To smell the barn smells of hay and sweat and leather, and hear the music of horses munching quietly, snorting occasionally is near to heaven.

And the time spent trail riding through the woods on a new spring day or cool summer evening is pure therapy for the soul!  Being with horses seems to have the unique ability to lift away all of life’s burdens and allow me to live in the perfection of the present.

As an artist, horses provide me with an infinite source of inspiration.  When I was a little girl, I was obsessed with drawing them over and over again until I could get it “right.” It still gives me a thrill to see such an exquisite animal just being--what unpremeditated grace!  The desire to capture in paint the personality or beauty of a particular horse has been a constant yet fulfilling challenge.  My favorite part of drawing or painting a horse though is to get the eye just right--so much can be expressed there.  Every time I study their soft, kind eye, I am reminded of a deeper intelligence--one of intuition and earth and true wisdom.'
